The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Minister Yu In-chon will visit the Gangwon region on the 7th and 8th to inspect local culture and tourism sites and listen to the opinions of stakeholders.

Key visit areas include Mt. Gariwang in Jeongseon, Sokcho, and Goseong, which is part of the 'Local 100, Let's Go Local!' campaign, as well as the representative 'Local 100' sites in Yanggu, including the 'Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Peace Trail,' the 'Baekja Museum,' and the 'Park Soo-keun Art Museum.'

On the 7th, Minister Yu will visit the cable car facility at Mt. Gariwang in Jeongseon, a legacy of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The Gariwangsan cable car operates using the gondola facilities from the alpine skiing venue during the Olympics. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to support regional revitalization, including tourism projects based on the Winter Olympics legacy.

Following that, Minister Yu will visit Abai Village in Sokcho, designated as a 'cultural city of Korea,' to hear about the city’s plans to realize the vision of 'a food culture city that weaves the charm of the city through flavors.' He will also visit cultural city project sites such as 'the Seafood Cooperative Distribution Center' and 'the Traveler's Platform' to hold discussions with local cultural entrepreneurs and artists involved in the cultural city project.

On the 8th, he will visit security tourism sites such as the Unification Observation Tower and the DMZ Museum in Goseong. Minister Yu will start at the Unification Observation Tower with Ham Myeong-jun, the Goseong County Chief, and walk the 'DMZ Peace Trail' theme route A, which extends from the observation tower to the coastal observation tower and the unification tunnel, all the way to the Military Demarcation Line.

He will then move to Yanggu to visit the Local 100 Baekja Museum and Park Soo-keun Art Museum. Minister Yu will tour the two exhibition halls and conduct site checks aimed at creating stable conditions for local artists, including artists' spaces.

Minister Yu noted, "Cultural and tourism attractions and content that reflect the characteristics and stories of each region enhance the quality of life and pride of local residents, and they attract people to those areas." He added, "The Ministry will do its best to promote local unique attractions and content so that more citizens and international tourists can visit the regions and feel their charm, and reflect the voices from the local sites into policy to achieve regional vitality and development through culture."
