The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will hold the '2025 Museum and Art Gallery Week' from May 2 to May 31, with the participation of over 260 museums and art galleries nationwide, in collaboration with the International Council of Museums Korea Committee (ICOM KOREA) and the Korea Museum Association.

Minister Yoo In-chon will attend the opening ceremony at Sabina Art Museum on the afternoon of the 2nd at 2 p.m. to celebrate the start of the '2025 Museum and Art Gallery Week' and encourage those involved in museums and art galleries.

This year's Museum and Art Gallery Week will be held under the theme 'The Future of Museums and Communities in Rapid Change,' as selected by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). To promote the balanced development of local culture, participation from local museums will be expanded, and this year, travel programs linking major cultural spaces with regional museums and art galleries will continue from last year. Additionally, efforts will be made to discover and actively promote outstanding cultural heritage across the nation.

'Museum×Meet,' which selects and promotes collectibles from 50 museums and galleries nationwide, 'Museum×Enjoy,' which features exhibitions and experiences under the theme of the future of museums and communities in rapid change, 'Museum×Stroll,' which involves traveling to local cultural landmarks with specialized guides, and the '19th Korean Museum International Academic Conference' featuring 17 academic societies participating under the theme of the future of museums and communities in rapid change are among the events that will take place.

In addition, the National Museum of Korea will hold a Children's Day event called 'Imaginary Museum' on the 5th, conducting experience and promotional activities linked to the 2025 Museum and Art Gallery Week.

Minister Yoo noted, 'The 2025 Museum and Art Gallery Week is a festival planned so that museums and art galleries can respond to rapidly changing communities and establish themselves as cultural hubs that enhance the quality of life for local residents.' He added, 'Museums are the beginning of everything and hold all the answers. Through this week, I hope that our citizens will encounter, enjoy, and stroll through museums and galleries rich with many years and stories.'
