The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey announced on the 28th that it held the "International Conference on Turkey and the Hittites" at the Hanseong Baekje Museum in Seoul.
The conference was held under the theme "Hittites: The Mightiest Empire of the Orient." Eleven archaeologists invited from three countries, including Turkey, Germany, and South Korea, participated.
Participants continued discussions on the urban structures and developmental aspects of the two ancient civilizations, the Hittites and Baekje. In particular, scholars from Turkey, the center of Hittite archaeology, visited to introduce the major Hittite sites, such as Hattusa, Ortaköy, and Şapinuwa, along with their origins and the achievements of museum excavations. The presentations were conducted in a way that compared and connected the Hittite civilization and Baekje heritage in three dimensions, drawing significant interest.
At the end of the conference, Özden Vanlı, a coordinator at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, highlighted the possibilities of "archaeological-based tourism" by introducing Turkey's major archaeological excavation sites, nearby tourist attractions, and traditional foods from various regions.
