Veteran actor Lee Soon-jae, 91, has been revealed to be unable to attend official schedules due to health issues.
According to the Korean Producers Association on the 16th, Lee Soon-jae was named the recipient of the grants (acting institutional sector) award at the 37th Korean Producers Awards held on the 9th in the KBS annex in Yeouido, Seoul, but he was unable to attend due to health problems.
The representative of Lee Soon-jae's agency, who accepted the award on his behalf, noted, “(Lee Soon-jae) was unable to attend because he was feeling unwell,” and conveyed gratitude in his stead.
The awards ceremony was broadcast on KBS 1TV on the 15th as a recorded transmission.
Lee Soon-jae, at 91 years old, is considered the oldest active actor currently.
Although he has been actively involved in both drama and theater stages, he canceled all performances last October due to health issues.
His last public activity was when he received the grand award at the KBS Acting Awards on Dec. 31 of last year and expressed his feelings about the award.
