The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is holding a meeting to gather opinions from the arts community and discuss the 'Basic Plan for Art Promotion' from 2025 to 2029.
On the 10th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will host 'The Art Policy Talk at 3 p.m.' in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where it will discuss the direction for establishing the 'Basic Plan for Art Promotion' with field experts and stakeholders. 'The Art Policy Talk at 3 p.m.' is a venue for collecting opinions from the arts community initiated by the ministry and has been held every Thursday since March 6, marking its sixth session on this day.
This discussion will analyze the achievements and limitations of the previous medium- to long-term plans for art promotion as well as changes in domestic and international environments. It will also present the overall direction and key tasks for establishing the 'Basic Plan for Art Promotion' and collect opinions from the field.
Following the presentations, discussions will be held on key policy areas such as training specialized personnel in the art field, fostering regional art ecosystems, revitalizing the art market, and advancing Korean art abroad. The plan aims to enhance the effectiveness and relevance of art promotion policies by gathering opinions from experts and stakeholders in each field.
Lee Jeong-woo, head of the Cultural and Artistic Policy Office at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, noted, “The 'Basic Plan for Art Promotion' has significant meaning as it is the first statutory plan established since the enactment of the Art Promotion Act,” and added, “We plan to announce the 'Basic Plan for Art Promotion' by collecting opinions from the field, including this discussion.” He also stated, “We will prepare a systematic art promotion policy that reflects the changed environment and new demands in the art community, and support the sustainable growth of Korean art through the creation of a healthy art ecosystem and a robust market foundation.
