To mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan, an event to exchange traditional cultures of the two countries will be held in Tokyo, Japan.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism noted on the 18th that a traditional culture exchange event themed 'Touch of tradition, meeting today' will take place at the Korean Cultural Center in Japan until the 2nd of next month.

The event is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the Korea Craft and Design Foundation and the Korean Cultural Center in Japan.

A seminar discussing the modern applications of traditional paper from Korea and Japan, known as 'Hanji' and 'Washi,' will be held alongside an exhibition of craft works utilizing traditional paper. Additionally, there will be an exhibition of Korea's mask dance, which is listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, a tasting event for traditional festive foods, a Hanbok exhibition, a Hanbok try-on event, and experiences of traditional Korean games such as Jegichagi.

At the opening ceremony on the 19th, celebratory performances will include a solo Gayageum performance of 'Pine Tree' by Japanese composer Miki Minoru, a performance of traditional Korean dance 'Chun-aengmu,' and a Hanbok fashion show. Additionally, a 'Korean Cuisine Concept Restaurant' event will take place at a Korean restaurant in Ginza, Tokyo, where traditional dishes from both countries will be featured.

Lee Jeong-woo, the head of the cultural policy division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, 'I hope that the understanding and exchange between the two countries in the field of traditional culture will deepen further on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan.'
